VMS enters wearable tech

In the weeks before Australians across the east coast returned to the workplace, SaniteX Global announced a cutting-edge collaboration with Samsung, integrating the Vital Monitoring System (VMS) – available on, and exclusively commercialized by, re-open.com platform – with Samsung’s groundbreaking Galaxy Watch4.

Making use of the smartwatch’s Wear OS Powered by Samsung feature – which measures blood oxygen and heart rate – VMS provides a clinically-backed health screening, using algorithms to identify and predict risk indicators for respiratory illness.

VMS can be used by every morning to give individuals peace of mind returning to the workplace, knowing they are healthy, and keeping their community safe.

Users of VMS on the Galaxy Watch4 will be prompted by a routine text message linking to an observation survey – including inputs for temperature, SpO2, heart rate, and symptoms of respiratory illness – all of which can be entered using the smartwatch.

Co-creator of VMS and Acting Director of Emergency at Alfred Health, Dr Carl Luckhoff emphasizes the importance of the tool, explaining, “Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been faced with considerable unknowns. That will continue as we move into the next stages of COVID-19 recovery, however, screening measures will play an imperative role in the recovery process.

“VMS has been built with that exact purpose in mind and we’re delighted to partner with Samsung to tap into the capabilities of its Galaxy Watch4, which truly complements the VMS solution.”

Having been built through strong partnerships with Deakin University, Alfred Health, and the National Trauma Research Institute (NTRI), VMS is clinically backed and easy to use, hence why it is an attractive product for Samsung to integrate with their newest smartwatch.

Head of Enterprise & Government Mobile Business at Samsung Electronics Australia, Danny Mandrides says, “Partnering with Deakin University and SaniteX Global on the VMS solution provides us with an opportunity to help in the quest to return the world to some sort of normality, and that’s incredibly exciting.

“The Galaxy Watch4’s health monitoring capabilities are a perfect match for the VMS solution and will help to improve user experience by automating the collation of key vital measurements needed for its observation survey.”
